A-ROD: Not an Option til May

It looks like one of the most popular RTTC Selections will not be an option until around WEEK 8. According to CNNSI.COM Rodriguez had arthroscopic surgery Monday to repair torn cartilage in his right hip, and doctors said they found nothing that would keep him from returning to the lineup in May. Do you take him once he is ready, or wait a few weeks?? This is the guessing game known as the RTTC.

On a side note, this is a reminder to continue to check out this blog, and invite family and friends along for a fun year of baseball. Also the way you guys can communicate easily and talk trash this year is by using the comments below each post. I will start it off...

27 Days til Opening Night!

Sunday, April 5th Braves @ Phillies, 8pm, ESPN2

This will mark the start of our 2nd annual Race to the Crown. It is a Sunday, but will count towards week 1 that will last through April 12th.

This means we have 26 days or so to recruit and get our name out there...the more people we have, the higher the rewards. This year the entry fee will be $30 and like last year, their will be 9 winning pay outs. 1st(60%) 2nd(30%) 3rd(10%) in each category(HR, RBI, BA)

For more info, check out the FAQs below...We will be adding more features and info now, until opening day, so check back often.

2009 Season Info, Rules

RTTC Rules

Very simple fantasy baseball game...

You pick 1 player each week of the MLB season which equals 26 different picks.

Every new week starts on Monday (Week 1 starts April 5th)

You can not use the same player more than 1 time per season.

We only count/care about Batting Average, HRs, and RBIs (Stats will be taken from mlb.com) These stats will be accumulated and we will have the year end winners.

At the end of the season there will be 9 winners, the top 3 in each category.

Doubleheaders DO count in the stats, these are a good chance to get extra ABs

Rain outs, injuries, days off are part of the game…so watch the weather channel, and keep an eye on strained hammy's

At end of year, Master Pot is split into the 3 smaller pots and the top 3 of each category get paid.

FAQ's

WHAT IF THERE IS A TIE?

At the end of the season, any tie's on the top 3 of each category will be split. For example #1, #2 tie for HRs….they split 1st and 2nd $$.

WHAT IF A PLAYER IS PICKED BY MULTIPLE PEOPLE IN THE SAME WEEK?

It does not matter if a player is played by 2 people in the same week, they just cant use him the rest of the year.

WHAT IF THE LEADER IN BATTING AVERAGE AT THE END OF THE SEASON DOES NOT PICK A PLAYER SO THIER BA DOES NOT GO DOWN?

A player must be picked each week, and that player cannot be on the DL. Additionally, to qualify for the batting title, a player must have at least 503 at bats (3.1 ABs * 162 games). Unless you have major injuries, you will easily exceed 503 ABs. This just prevents someone from picking bench players/pinch hitters at the end of the season just to keep their batting average up.

WHAT IF A CAN NOT GET MY PICK IN ON TIME?

Call me...Let me know if you need my contact info . For each day that you forget to get your pick in you will be given an 0-3, 0 HR and 0 RBI…
So for example, say by Wednesday you finally get your player in…you already are working with an 0-6 for not having a player Monday and Tuesday.
So don’t forget your picks….This rule will be reffered to as the Ahh Sunderman!!! Rule

CAN I USE AL AND NL PLAYERS?

You can pick any Major League Player, you just can only use him once the entire year.

HOW DO I SUBMIT MY WEEKLY PICKS?

EMail me at eric.krauss@cvgrp.com for your weekly picks. Also if you want to join the league, let me know at this address as well.
