2012 SEASON RESULTS

Well I never thought we would see it happen, but Miguel Cabrera did the name of our game..got the Triple Crown..It was quite the Race as well...we had the same type of drama going into last night and it wasn't settled into the last AB of the year for Curtis Granderson...Below are the winners of the this years edition of RTTC...

BA CHAMP - TIM KRAUSS - Finished the year at .334...Tim had 8 weeks of double digit hits and hit .342 in the 2nd half of the season...The biggest week of the year for him was probably week 8, where he went 15/30...Congrats T-BAG! - $320.60

BA - 2nd Place - DAN RYCHENER - Finished the year at .329...Dan had a chance late, but went 1/10 in week 26 to fall to 2nd place...From week 20 to 25, Dan was over .300 every week to get him into the top 3 - $133.58

BA - 3rd Place - DAVE REITHER - Finished the year at .324...What a huge finish to the year by Dave..In weeks 24 and 25, he made the big comeback by hitting .490 in that span...Molina hurt him in week 26 by going just 1/7 and sitting out the last game. - $80.15

HR CHAMP - RYAN SMITH - ROB PRICE - Both finished with 43...Price had this one wrapped up seemingly up until the 7th inning last night in NY, when Curtis Granderson hit his 2nd HR of the night to pull Smith into a tie for 1st...Unreal comeback with 2 HRs on the final night of the year for Smith to cap a unreal year for him...You can look to week 5 for both of these guys - when they picked Hamilton and he had 9 HRs that week..no wonder they won ( I picked him too that week...woops, yeah I blew it this year) - Congrats on splitting 1st and 2nd $$ - $227.09 (Rob that Grandy HR last night cost you about $100 just so you know..he sent me a text last night that simply read : I HATE THE YANKEES) Well said!

HR  - 3rd Place - MATT BANKS - Finished with 42 - He has to be bummed he missed the top prize here, He was in 1st for a lot of the 2nd half of the year - and to boot, Beltran didn't play last night for him to even give him a chance...Looking back to weeks 3-6 probably cost him the big $$ as he only had 1 HR in that month span.. - $80.15

RBI CHAMP - RYAN SMITH - Finished with a new RTTC record 140 RBIs..That will be hard to break, because one would need about 5.5 a week to do it..He has had this wrapped up for a few weeks, but he kept adding on late - Grandy with 4 last night got him the record...Again week 5 when he picked Hamilton set him up for the season when he had 18 that one week - He also had 20 weeks where he had at least 4RBI..thats the consistency it takes to win these things..$320.60

RBI - 2nd Place - ROB PRICE - Finished with 120 - Broken record here, but the 18 RBIs he got from Hamilton helped him big time...Also week 21 he got 10 from Reddick and the ridiculous A's - $133.58

RBI - 3rd Place - MATT BANKS - Finished with 114 - Not sure how he hung onto 3rd place, but he deserved it after the tough luck he came into during the HR Race...He got 0 RBIs in week 26 but the 2 people behind didn't either and he hung on... $80.15

That wraps up the season ending results...Lets see how this years RTTC leaders compared to the MLB Leaders..always amazes me how close these usually are:

BA
RTTC  - T KRAUSS - .334
MLB - B. POSEY - .336
HR
RTTC - SMITH, PRICE - 43
MLB - CABRERA - 44

RBI
RTTC - SMITH - 140
MLB - CABRERA - 139

Thats pretty crazy!

The playoffs are here and once the draft gets completed, we still have to crown our 2012 WS RTTC CHAMP. I will post periodic updates on here throughout the playoffs, and at some point tonight or tomorrow reveal the MVP and Rookie of the Year as well as the final $$ distribution.  Email me your address for where to send your winnings..

Week 26 Results

The marathon is complete and 2 guys finished very strong...

STUDS OF THE WEEK - WILLIAMSON, SCHMIDT

They both went with the best 2nd baseman is the game, Robby Cano...He went 9/15 with 3HR and 9RBI in the last 3 games for the NYY..He has been so hot these past 10 days..Just 10 days ago he was hitting .293..now he hitting .313... Its so hard to raise your average that much that quickly this late in the year...Willie finished the year disappointed by his standards I am sure...This is his 4th year in RTTC, and 1st time he finished the year with under 311PTS (282)..Schmidt, a rookie had an overall rough year, but had a few good weeks winning SOTW 3 times...and finished 2nd on the year in SOTW $$ earnings..

Week 25 RECAP

25 weeks down, and 1 3-day week left...

STUD OF THE WEEK - Sean McCutcheon -

He went with Matt Kemp and he was 11/24, 4HR, 9RBI...The only possible better pick would have been Chris Davis, who had 26 pts...McCutcheon has had a very good rookie year and should be in the rookie of the year running...It was his 2nd SOTW, and now is 7th place on the year in $$ earnings...

DUD OF THE WEEK - Ryan Howard Owners -

There were multiple people who picked RH, and he only had 1 hit and 1 RBI last week...It especially hurt Shipley, who is in the hunt in RBIs...

Week 24 Results

24 down, 2 to go...Lots of $$ to be determined yet...

Staley was the only one on Miguel Cabrera last week, and he again was the SOTW...He went 9/26 with 4HR, and 10RBI...Staley has had a very good rookie year...Now has 36 HR on the year and 99 RBI...Back in week 1, he had 6 HRs with Kemp, then from week 2 to 18, he had a total of 15...then now since week 19, he has hit 15 more HRs and now is in position at a top 3 finish...He looks to be finishing strong...He is now tied for 3rd in the Money Leaders...

DUD OF THE WEEK - BURGER + Non Pickers

Burger picked Josh Hamilton and he had 1 at bat this week with no hits...another case of injury bad luck...he did get married though on Saturday, which may or may not make him feel better about his Dud week..he and his lovely bride did throw a heck of a party though, so it turned out allright for ya Boogs...he has to be happy wedding planning is over, because the last 3 weeks he has been 4/47, with 1HR and 2RBI..time to get your focus back Corey..

BA OUTLOOK

T KRAUSS - .339... .318 last week...3rd straight week over .300
D RYCHENER - .333... .375 last week..gained some ground on TK...5th straight week over .300

SHIPLEY - 112 - 2 RBI last week...can she hold onto 2nd?
T KRAUSS - 111 - 5 RBI last week...2 top 3 finishes for TK?
PRICE - 110 - 5 RBI last week - looks like this 3rd place finish is gonna be decided on the last day

TEAM STUD PICK OF WEEK - Cardinals, Orioles

2 possible playoff teams  Both went 5-1 last week

TEAM DUD PICK OF WEEK - Rockies

They are pretty bad and went 0-7 last week

REG SEASON CHAMPIONSHIP OUTLOOK -

G BADENHOP - 99-56 - Went 4-2 last week..7 games left

No one else closer than 5 GB..looks to be a 2 man race here

PLAYOFF OUTLOOK -

MCCUTCHEON currently holds the 10th spot...yet only 2.5 GB of 3rd place...lots of changes will take place yet here...6 others within 2.5 GB of that last playoff spot...

LEADER IN THE CLUBHOUSE

Mathews has finished his season on Saturday at 93-69..currently 2 GB of the playoffs...he needs some help to get in...not looking good though

Remember, once you hit 162 games played...your season is done...any tiebreakers will be settled by overall player pick points

With only 10 days left in the season, I will update the blog daily with stat updates...good luck to those still in contention...if not, you have 2 weeks to get that SOTW...

WEEK 22 RECAP

22 weeks down, 4 to go

STUD OF THE WEEK - SMITH

He was the lone player to pick Jay Bruce this week and he delivered.  He was 11/22, 4HR, 9RBI - 24 pts...Only Chase Headley and Adam LaRoche had more pts last week, although no one picked them...On the year now, Smitty has 37HR and 118RBI..He is looking 2 win 2/3 categories, and perhaps MVP...This is his 5th year in RTTC and he has never finished in the top 3, in any category...he already has career highs in HR and RBIs this year, with 4 weeks to play...With the $60, he is now in 2nd place in total winnings this year with $85.45...

DUD OF THE WEEK - Zeitz (and the No-Pickers)

Zietz went with Josh Reddick and he was bad...2/24 with an RBI...It was the 2nd DOTW for JZ this year and it looks as if he is playing to win another SOTW, as he is pretty much out of contention for the year long awards....

STUD TEAM PICK - Angels

They were 6-0..Mathews and Curlis with the big pick of the week...Curlis coming on strong...he is 13-0 in the last 2 weeks..and now only a couple games out of the last playoff spot...Dan Rychener and Glenn Badenhop are neck and neck for the regular season crown, and would think are locks for the playoffs, unless they pull a Red Sox from last September...

DUD TEAM PICK - Rockies

They were 1-6, bad

BA

T Krauss still hanging on strong at .337...he hit .355 last week
D Rychener .330 ... he had a solid week at .304...3 straight weeks of over .300
Jess Kapcar .327...she also was .355 last week and gained a lil ground on Rychener..

HR

Banks - 38..he hit 3 more HRs last week, ties his career high with 38
Smith - 37 - 4 big ones last week - 4th different week, with at least 4 HRs..hits em in bunches
Price - 36 - had 2 last week - has 9 in last 4 weeks..if he hits 9 in next 4 weeks, that may do it for him

RBI

Smith - 118, hard to think he can blow this lead, up 10 with 4 weeks to go...RBI record (136) in jeopardy
Shipley - 108, Had 5 more last week, 3 straight weeks of at least 5 rbis...
Banks - 104, Also had 5 last week, only 2 weeks this year with 0 RBI
T Krauss -104,  5 RBI last week..now has 100 RBIs in every season (4 in a row, no one else has done that)

Week 20 Recap

STUD OF THE WEEK - PENNINGTON

When the player you pick has 3HRs one night and then hits for the cycle the next night, chances are you are going to be in the $$ that week...Thats what Pennington had this week with his lone pick off A Beltre...He finished the week 13/30, 5HR, 9RBI (27PTS)...next closest was the Curlis Crew at 23....This was the 3rd SOTW for JP and 2nd in the last 3 weeks...he is now in 4th place with HRs (31) and 9th place in RBIs (86)...With the $60 all to himself this week, he now also is the season long $$ leader at over $80 so far..He was the HR champ in 2010 with 42...lets see if he can reach that mark again....if so, chances are he will finish in the top 3...

DUDs OF THE WEEK - ROSSI + All of the no pickers

Rossi was the only one on Carlos Beltran, and he didn't show up for him...He was just 3/20 (3pts)   At this point Rossi's best shot is probaly in HRs...He has 22, and is 10 behind 3rd place right now...This was Rossi's first DOTW for the year...

RTTC VS MLB LEADERS
BA
RTTC - T Krauss .340 - big 10/22 last week
MLB - Me Cabrera - .343 (I wonder if he will qualify for the BA title at the end of the year?)

HR
RTTC - Banks 34 - Went with big Donkey last week and..
MLB - Dunn 38 - ...he had 3 hits...all HRs haha

RBI
RTTC - Smith 105 - added 3 more last week -
MLB - Hamilton 111 - big 9 RBI week for JH

STUD TEAM PICK - PADRES

Josh Biederstedt was the lone SDP pick and is now only 5.5 GB of the last playoff spot..peaking at right time?

DUD TEAM PICK - ASTROS, INDIANS

How bad are these 2 teams right now..Combined they are 10-37 in August...BAD...3 people picked them probably thinking they were due to win some games...nope

G BADENHOP is starting to pull away and has the largest lead of the year at 3 games over D RYCHENER...but things can change quick...

Monday, August 20, 2012

Week 19 Recap -

Just about a quarter of the year remains..

STUD OF THE WEEK - JESSICA KAPCAR

Her first of the year, and she doesn't have to split the $ with someone else!..She picked Jay Bruce this week and he went 12/28 with 3 HR and 7 RBI (22PTS)...She edged out the Pujols owners (21PTS)...Only 3 other players would have been better picks this week - H Ramirez - 23 PTS, Swisher and G Jones - 25 PTS...She is now 3rd in BA at .330, and that looks to be her best shot at the year end money...

DUDS OF THE WEEK - CANO OWNERS

He only played in 4 games during the week and struggled... 8 people picked him this week and he had 1 hit in 17 ABs..(1PT)...Of all the Cano Owners, the Krauss Krew was hurt the most, the others aren't really in major contention...Krauss Krew was .324 before the week, now sit at .313...big blow...

TAKING A LOOK AT BA

In my opinion, anyone over .300 still has a shot at a top 3 finish with 7 weeks to go...That leaves 16 players with a legit shot at  the BA Title..The past 3 years the champ has averaged about .337..Right now T Krauss is at .335

TAKING A LOOK AT HR

HRs can add up in a hurry..it is possible in a 7 week span to have about 3 per week, So anyone with over 20 HRs could make a run yet...that leaves 43 players with a shot at of at least 40 HRs if they get real hot...the past 3 years, an average of 43 HRs has been the champ...Right now Smith is on pace for about 44 for the year...

TAKING A LOOK AT RBI

Just like HRs, RBIs can add up fast..a couple double digit weeks in a row can make for a quick comeback...There are 24 people within 20 RBIs of 3rd place right now...Smitty has a 7 RBI lead right now and is on pace for around 140 RBIs...The champ in the past 3 years has averaged around 133.

TEAM PICKS STUD - REDS OWNERS

REDS with a nice 5-2 week...5 people picked them...

TEAM PICKS DUD - ANGELS, PADRES OWNERS

Not a good week to pick these 2 west coast teams...6 people picked them....

If playoffs started today...this would be the guys to make the playoffs..

Glenn Badenhop

Dan Rychener
Kyle Krauss
Brent Williamson
Derek Meek
Jeremy Berg*
Corey Burger
Kirk Graven
Joe Pennington
Brandon Feikle*

There are another 13 players within 5 games of the last playoff spot...

Week 18 Recap

We are about 70% done with the RTTC regular season...Week 18 saw some big movement...

STUDS OF THE WEEK - Todd Guelde, Banks, Tim Krauss, Pennington

They all went with Adrian Gonzalez who was 11/28 with 2 HR and 14 RBIs.. (27 PTS)  That was the best possible pick possible this week...It was Banks 4th SOTW in the last 7 weeks..he is absolutely on fire...He is now 6th in BA, 1st in HR and 3rd in RBI..strong MVP candidate...Tim K has his 3rd SOTW and 2nd in a row....He is .410, 8HR and 27RBI in the last 2 weeks...and has found himself being chased now as he is 1st in BA, 6th in HR, and 2nd in RBIs...Guelde and Pennington both got their 2nd SOTW...TG is now 3rd in BA and 5th in RBIs....JP is still way back in BA, but is now top 15 in HRs and RBIs... Congrats on a huge week by you guys..

DUDS OF THE WEEK - PUJOLS OWNERS

Too many to list on here...but in total, there were 9 of them..Big Albert only had 1 hit all week in 234 ABs..The biggest name to fall in that group was Matt Badenhop who had been atop the BA leaderboard for some time...To give an example of how quick things can change in the BA department: Prior to week 17, Badenhop was at .355 and T Krauss was at .330...2 weeks later (today) TK is at .341 and MB is at .329...that is a swing of .37 pts...pretty crazy this late in the year...moral of the story..never give up in BA especially, as that can swing big in a short time..Notable - Staley has his 4th DOTW...

Consistency is Key

STALEY 14 Non Dud weeks - .331, 21 HR, 64 RBI
STALEY 4 Dud weeks - .095, 0 HR, 1 RBI

TEAM STUD PICK OF WEEK - RAYS

6-0 Ty Meyer and Tim Guelde were the only ones to go undefeated this week...TYMY now only 4 games out of the last wild card spot...Timmy G is now only 2 games out of that last spot...

TEAM DUD PICK OF WEEK - CUBS

1-6 Bindel was the lone Cubby pick...he is way back...14.5 GB of the last playoff spot

.600 CLUB

It is looking like a .600 winning percentage will be a good indicator of making the playoffs...That has been pretty close to the last wild card spot all year..we will see if that sticks...

REMINDER -

On the spreadsheet, the far right column is GR, which means games remaining...Most of us should finish with 162 without a problem...but if the season is done and you only have 160 total games played..the final 2 games will automatically be losses... There is no penalty to finishing early obviously.  Example Mathews has 39 games left...there are 7 full weeks left and week 26 has 3 games in it..looks like he will be getting done in week 24ish..which is fine..On the other hand, someone like Ty Meyer has 49 games left, which could be cutting it close...

Monday, August 6, 2012

Week 17 Recap -

Week 17 gave us the 2nd best performace of the year...3 guys capitalized on..

STUDs OF THE WEEK- Sunderman, Banks, T Krauss

..Albert Pujols..How long ago does April seem, when Pujols was hitting under .200 with no HRs...Since May 1 he is hitting .309 with 24 HRs and 72 RBIs...In April he was .214 with 4 RBIs...This past week he went 14/33 with 6 HRs and 13 RBIs...(33pts)...Sunderman gets his 1st SOTW, Banks gets his 3rd, and TKrauss gets his 2nd...Tim is now 3rd in BA, 4th in RBIs...Banks is 1st-T in HRs and 5th in RBIs..Sunderman is having a nice year as well, and still has a shot in all 3 categories as he is top 15 in all 3.

DUD OF THE WEEK - Jessica Kapcar

Rough week for Jess...Her pick Carlos Ruiz got hurt on Wednesday and only managed 9 ABs on the week and getting only 1 hit and 1 RBI..she is still only 12 pts behind the leader in BA though, so she is in good shape...

STUD TEAM PICK OF THE WEEK - Cardinals

Davia, Midura, and Burger all with the 5-1 week...unfortunately they only gained .5 game on the leader G Badenhop

DUD TEAM PICK OF THE WEEK - Rockies

Guiney was the lone man on the Rox this week, and they went 1-5...he lost ground on everyone as this week saw only 8 people have a losing record

We have 9 weeks left (8 full weeks..week 26 I believe every team only has 3 games...

GETTING HOT -

Sunderman weeks 1-15 = 13HR 48RBI
Sunderman weeks 16-17 = 10HR 23RBI

Banks weeks 1-11 = .278, 11HR, 31RBI
Banks weeks 12-17 = .396, 17HR, 46RBI

Feikle weeks 1-6 = 19-27 record
Feikle weeks 7-17 = 48-19 record

Holliday - 4
Dunn - 4

MOST PICKED TEAMS:
Braves - 20

Last Night STUD - Jeremy Michael

Talk about timing...Up until this week, no one had picked Kendrys Morales all year..Morales, went off for 10 pts (2/5 2HR 6RBI)... Both of his HRs were in the same inning...from each side of the plate..unreal...Michael has been struggling in his rookie season...The 6 RBIs last night for him match his RBI output in the last 4 weeks combined!  Morales is on pace for 70 pts this week (record is 41)...that will get Michael back in contention

Monday, July 30, 2012

Week 16 Recap

It was a good week to pick a big white guy from the South Side of Chicago...

STUDS OF THE WEEK - SHIPLEY, PARKER

Ship picked Adam Dunn who was 9/24, 3HR, 8RBI and Parker picked Paul Konerko who was 10/23, 3HR, 7RBI..both finished with 20 PTS...Shipley is now 5th in BA, and 1st in HRs and RBIs...serious MVP contender...Parker's best shot at a top 3 finish is in BA, where he currently sits in 17th place @ .305...

DUD OF THE WEEK - Feikle

He gambled and went with a newbie to RTTC...Cody Ross...he finished with only 4 pts...4/24...Feikle's best shot at the $$ is in the HR category... He is tied with Shipley for 1st with 26...but he only has 1HR over the past 2 weeks...

TEAM STUD PICK OF THE WEEK - REDS

Feikle was the only one to pick CINCY and they went 6-0...He picked up 3 games on Glenn Badenhop who is in 1st place...He is now only 6 games out of 1st..

TEAM DUD PICK OF THE WEEK - ASTROS-ROYALS

Riether, Schurr, Davia picked one of these 2 teams and went 1-6....Davia is in a free fall going 2-12 in the past 2 weeks..but thanks to his great start, he is only 5 games out of the playoff picture...

Monday, July 23, 2012

Week 15 Recap -

4 different picks got at least 20 points this week...One almost got 30...

STUD OF THE WEEK - CHRIS MATHEWS

Last week he picked Ryan Zimmerman and he was 15/30 with 5 HRs and 8 RBIs (28PTS)  That puts him in 4th place in BA and RBIs now...and 11th in HRs...Surprisingly, Mathews was the only player to pick a Nationals player, who had 8 games this week...sneaky double header on Saturday that Mathews took advantage of...Mathews is an RTTC MVP threat every year...Last year he won it with a season ending .335, 33, 123 line....He is on pace to finish this year with a .342, 38, 121 line...Back2Back???  Also with the $60 win (his 3rd SOTW), he is now 1st on the 2012 $ Leader Board with $75.23..Congrats CM!

DUDS OF THE WEEK - Zietz, Todd Guelde, Emmons, Schmitmeyer, Michael

7/18 Recap -

STUD OF THE DAY - BILLY BUTLER

BB was 3/3, HR, RBI...(5PTS) ..Perfect night for Butler... Only picked by 2 people this week..Tim Guelde and Pennington (not eligible for SOTW)

From Elias: Billy Butler was 3-for-3 with two walks against the Mariners on Wednesday night, including a game-winning home run in the bottom of the ninth inning. He's the first player in Royals history to hit a walkoff home run in a game in which he had at least five plate appearances and reached base in every one of them.

STUD OF THE DAY - MIKE TROUT

4/6 1HR 2RBI (7PTS)  He was picked by 4 people this week, and of those 4, Cowan is in the best shape.  He was hitting .320 before the week started...Trout hasn't slowed down, and may be the AL MVP...In July he is batting .440 with 5 HR and 12 RBIs..He is on pace for 23 HRs and 53 SBs..the 20-50 club has only been done by 11 players...ever...LAA is 42-27 when he plays...8-14 when he does not

DUDS OF THE WEEK - Schurr, Gordon

Gordon picked Bryce Harper and he only managed 1 hit over the weekend (1/12)..He had more Ozzie Guillen F Bombs yelled at him than pts this weekend...and since Schurr took a prolonged All Star break and did not submit a pick..he gets saddled with the lowest score as well...

TEAM STUDS OF THE WEEK - A's, Braves, Cubs, Giants, Reds

A bunch of sweeps this weekend...most surprising one was probably the Cubs winning 3 in a row....

TEAM DUDS OF THE WEEK - Astros, Cardinals, DBacks, Twins

2012 RTTC All Star Selections

-There were 14 people selected to this years all star team.

-5 Rookies made the team

-9 1st time selections

Selections (In order of All Star Appearances)

Tim Krauss - 4th - Tim squeaked in as the 6th place in BA at .334  This is Tim's 4th season in RTTC, and it is his 4th AS...thats pretty impressive

Krauss Krew - 3rd - 2nd in BA .352 and 5th in RBIs - 64...2008 BA Champ..can they do it again?

Dan Rychener - 3rd - 5th in BA at .342...looking for 3rd straight year over .300?

Ashley Shipley - 2nd - 2nd in HRs at 23...2nd in RBIs at 72...Her 1st AS since 2008, looks like she made the right decision to break apart from her alliance from last year..she is back on track

Curlis Crew - 2nd - 6th in HRs at 21...Looks like if you  have a Crew of Krew in your name, you are good?  Looking for his 1st end of year $$

We are halfway done with the RTTC regular season...Here is what happened in week 13:

These four went with the star of Pittsburgh, Andrew McCutcheon who delivered...he went  15/29 with 3HR and 9RBI..(27PTS)   He also was the SOTW in week 11...M Badenhop has his 4th SOTW, Brink his 3rd, Banks and Curlis thier 2nd...Banks and Badenhop are back to back Studs from week 12 as well...With the recent surge, Badenhop is leading all 3 categories at the break and is a serious triple crown threat this year...Jess Kapcar would have been in the money too, but she was late on her pick...Congrats all on splitting the $60

DUDS OF THE WEEK - Cowan, Parker

Not really duds this week, more so unlucky....Cowan picked Stanton who got hurt on Monday and only managed 5 ABs all week..getting hits in 2 of them for (2pts)...**Rule Change**  Since I never recieved a pick from Parker, he was given the Dud of the weeks stats as well..that will be the rule going forward...same in the team picks...

TEAM STUD PICK OF THE WEEK - PIRATES

The Pirates went 6-1 and are in 1st at the break...Meek could have himself a pretty drunk 2nd half of the year, if they keep this up....

TEAM DUD PICK OF THE WEEK - GIANTS

SF went 1-5 to finish the 1st half...

NEW LEADER - G Badenhop - 59-30

You would be doing well in Vegas with those picks Glenn...He passed Kyle Krauss for 1st place...Kyle if you would focus on your picks and not being at the hospital with your newborn daughter, you may still be in 1st...Congrats!! (says the guy in 59th place..20 games back)

Check back later on today or tomorrow for the RTTC Midseason Recap and All Star selections....as well as the RTTC MLB All Stars...

Both guys had a total of 6pts, that included a HR...6 guys picked Braun this week...3 picked Papi..

Papi is having a great year as well...for some reason it seems very quiet to me, as I havent heard much about him...Sox being in last is probably 1 reason...He had a grandy last night...From Elias: David Ortiz's grand slam on Wednesday night was the 10th of his career at Fenway Park -- nine for the Red Sox and one for the Twins. (His lone road grand slam for Boston was against Tampa Bay in 2006.) 5/17 Recap - B2B BJ Edition

STUD OF THE DAY - Jose Bautista

He was 2/4, HR, 2 RBIs..(5pts)  Here is a familiar name that was on here about twice a week last year...He is starting to heat up...He had 3 HRs in all of April, but now has 7 already in May, and 5 in the last 7 games...Looks like the Jays need him to HR as well...They are 8-1 in games he has gone yard...Pennington and Midura both picked him this week...

Thursday, May 17, 2012

5/16 Recap - EE Edition

STUD OF THE DAY  - Edwin Encarnacion

3/4, HR, 3RBIs...(7 PTS)  Dave Riether was the only player to pick EE this week...It looks like it could be another Blue Jay break out year...(Bautista 2 years ago)...Right now if you used our RTTC "pts" system...Encarnacion would be in 2nd place in all of the the majors with 88pts...tied with Miguel Cabrera and 30 behind Josh Hamilton, haha...He is being very productive and in the line up every day for the Jays...  Look for him to be a popular RTTC pick the rest of the year.

Tuesday, May 15, 2012

Week 6 Preview - Braun, Nationals Edition

Only 21 different players picked this week...

Top 3 picks were Braun - 9, Votto - 8, and Hamilton - 8

1st Time Pick - Allen "The Wrench" Craig , STL - It is kind of surprising that he hasn't been picked yet, but he missed the first few weeks of the year with an injury...He only has 43 ABs on the year, but the only player with a higher OPS this year with at least that many ABs is Josh Hamilton...Thats good company...E Krauss was the only one to pick him this week..(Look at me trying to justify my pick..)

Who to Root Against:

The BA leader, Shipley (.381) picked Ortiz..
The HR leader Davia (13) picked Beltran
The Co HR and RBI leader, Price(13, 35) picked Beltre
18 different teams were picked this week...This week every MLB team has 7 games...very rare...

Top 3 Picks - Washington - 16, Rangers - 8, Tigers - 6

1st place - Dave Krauss (25-11) went with the Rangers this week...

Williamson, and K Krauss currently occupy the last 2 playoff spots at 23-14...

Week 5 Recap - Video Game Edition

Pretty much 20% done...Lets get right to it...

STUD OF THE WEEK - E KRAUSS - SMITH - PRICE

All 3 went with the best pick of their career...Josh Hamilton, who was playing on the easy level video-game like - 14/30 with 9 HRs and 18 RBIs...for a total of 41 pts!  They were 2 off the hit record of 16...broke the HR record by 3, the RBI record by 1 and the Points total by 9...The week puts Smith and Price in the top 10 in BA....and all 3 are in the top 3 in HRs and RBIs...To put this week into perspective...In the 1st 4 weeks of the season, E Krauss had 41 pts, Smith - 43 pts, and Price 46 pts total...Hamilton had 41 this week in 30 ABs...that is 1.36 pts/AB..just dumb..its beyond me how anyone continued to pitch to him after, I dont know, maybe the 5th Homer of the week on Tuesday night...It will be interesting to see if Hamilton can stay healthy this year and make a run at Bonds...Be weary of picking Hamilton this week though..the bat he used all week during this unreal run broke last night, and is headed to Cooperstown...Double Congrats to Price, who had a baby girl last week..Avery...

DUD OF THE WEEK - JOSH BIEDERSTEDT

He went with the rookie, Bryce Harper last week and RTTC treated him like Cole Hamels..rudely...He was 4/26 on the week for 4 pts...He also bloodied his face with a broken bat he shattered in the dugout...that should count as a 5 pt deduction, dummy..Bieder has been reeling since his week 3 SOTW...since then he is 5/44 (.114) with no HRs or RBIs....JB needs a big bounce back week in week 6..

FACT THAT MAY ONLY INTEREST ME

Out of the 5 weeks so far, there have been 3 different players that have garnered both the Stud and Dud of the weeks already...Talk about going big or going home...

TEAM STUD PICK OF THE WEEK - DODGERS

5 players picked the LAD, and were rewarded with a 5-1 week...

TEAM DUD PICK OF THE WEEK - ROCKIES

Only Schurr went with the Rox, and it didnt go so well.. 1-5 last week...and he finds himself in the cellar after week 5..11 games back of Dave Krauss...

FUN WITH NUMBERS

Troy Brooks off to a terribly slow start (he warms up with the weather)...has 40 pts this year...Hamilton put up 41 last week..

Davia, has at least 3 HRs in 4 of the 1st 5 weeks...and find himself in 1st place with 13...

Speaking of Davia, he has 13 HRs and only 21 RBIs..J Berg has 21 RBIs as well, but only 5 HRs...Davia..King of the Solo Homer!

STUD OF THE DAY - MIGUEL CABRERA

He was 4/5, with 3 RBIs..7 pts...Cabrera broke out of a 7 game slump....He had as many hits last night as he had in the previous 7 combined....and raised his average from .263 to now .285... The Tigs scored 8 in the 3rd to beat the As...10-6...2 guys picked Cabrera this week....(Side note - How about former Tiger, Brandon Inge...hitting his 2nd grand slam in 3 days for the A's..)

5/9 Recap - The Big Donkey Edition

Quiet day for the RTTC picks...not one pick reached 5 points for the day..There were a few that hit 4, and I picked one...

STUD OF THE DAY - ADAM DUNN -
He was 1/3, 1 HR, and 2 RBIs...It is looking like he will be the comeback player of the year this season....He now has 10 HRs on the year.....last year he hit 11 total...It looks like he is back to his normal self...Will hit about .240-.250 and hit 40 HRs...Emmons and G Badenhop picked the Donkey this week...

5/8 Recap - J Ham History Edition

Not much debate about this one...History made at Camden Yards last night...

STUD OF THE DAY(WEEK??/YEAR???) - Josh Hamilton

5-5, 4HRs, 8RBIs...(17 PTS)  16th time in MLB history that 4HRs has happened..He also had one Monday night, which makes him 5 HRs in his last 6 ABs...

Some tweets from last night to put his performance in perspective....

-Scott Van Pelt ‏ @notthefakeSVP

250 no hitters all time in MLB. 21 perfect games. Only 16 4 HR games. So the history Josh Hamilton writes tonight is more rare

-DKnobler ‏ @DKnobler

Josh Hamilton has more RBI in the last 9 innings than Albert Pujols has this season.

-Matthew Berry ‏ @MatthewBerryTMR

Josh Hamilton now has 14 home runs on the year. The Padres... have 12.

-Dan Barreiro ‏ @DanBarreiroKFAN

Josh Hamilton last night hit half as many home runs as Joe Mauer has hit over his last 160 games.

Congrats to Smith, Price, and Myself to picking Hamilton this week...Good Choice..Oh yeah he has 21 pts this week already, and there are 5 Rangers games left!...I am going to call that he gets more walks than hits the rest of the week...

Week 5 Preview - Old and New Edition

Well, after this week, we will be roughly 20% thru the 2012 season...Lets take a look at the majority picks this week...There were 27 different players picked this week...

Top Pick - Jason Kipnis
Kipnis was picked 6 times, mainly I am sure because the Tribe plays 8 games this week...some people are always trying to get max at bats...we will see how the strategy works out for them...5 people picked Carlos Gonzalez...last week's Stud...and 4 people picked both Big Papi and Ryan Braun...

1st Time RTTC Picks:

Bryce Aron Max Harper...It was only a matter of time til someone picked the chosen one...At 19, I believe he is the first teenager ever chosen in RTTC history...He seems pretty legit so far...I for one, can't wait til he faces Hamels again...He was picked 1 time by Josh B.

Bryan Allan LaHair...This guy is having a huge start to the year...2nd in slugging in the majors to only Matt Kemp....He may be making the oldest RTTC debut at 29 years old...Harper was 9 when LaHair was drafted...LaHair was picked 2 times...

Top Team Pick - The Detroit Tigers

They were picked 11 times...and promptly blew a 9th inning lead last night...The Phillies were picked 8 times who also blew it in the 9th inning....The Tribe were picked 7 times, and swept a doubleheader from the ChiSox...The Astros were picked for the 1st time...

5/7 Stud of the Day - Take your pick of Pedroia and Big Papi...both put up a HR and 5 pts total..

Week 4 Recap -

STUDs OF THE WEEK - WYSE, ZAVISLAK

For the 1st time since Week 1, we have a tie at the top...Josh Wyse and Jon Zavislak both seleected Carlos Gonzalez this week and it paid off for them...He was 9/23 with 3 HRs and 9 RBIs...Good for 21 PTS....They are both in very good position in all 3 categories...It has to feel good for JZ to get in the $$ already, as last year in his rookie year he was shut out...Wyse on the other hand had quite the year last year hitting 41 HRs, and had a great week...he got married last saturday and just finished up his honeymoon, and comes back to the Stud of the week honors...Congrats to you guys...

Dud of the Week - Dave Riether

By the definition of DUD (least pts) Riether gets stuck with it this week (Morneau), but he was hurt on Monday and finished the week 0-2...Just unlucky...There were some other injuries as well early this week...Longoria only got 2 ABs, but got 1 hit....Swisher only got 5 ABs...and Beltre only got 9 ABs...The true Dud should have been Josh Biederstedt who picked Willingham (1-18)..but in order to keep these awards consistant, I had to go with Riether...(I bet Biederstedt wishes he picked Morneau)

HOW WE STACK UP

BA LEADER
MLB - Jeter .397
RTTC - Burger .417

HR LEADER
MLB - Kemp - 12
RTTC - Staley, Davia - 10

RBI LEADER
MLB - Ethier - 28
RTTC - Staley - 27

STUD TEAM PICK of the WEEK - ANGELS AND RAYS

A total of 16 people went 5-2 this week...Props to Graven..only person to roll with the Angels..

DUD TEAM PICK of the WEEK - RED SOX and TWINS

Both of these teams went 1-5 this week...Leonard, Riether and Zgela lost ground in the standings...ZMan finds himself in the cellar..drinking lots of pops by himself...

-3 guys still picking em at over a .700 clip....Berg, Dave Krauss, and Davia...all with only 7 losses through the 1st month...great picking fellas...

5-2 Recap -

Crazy night in MLB...We had a no hitter in LA..we had 2 different 40+ year olds hit walk off HRs...and we had 4 different guys hit 2 HRs....but only 1 was picked in RTTC...

STUD OF THE DAY - CARLOS GONZALEZ

CarGo was 2/4, 2HRs, and 3 RBIs as the Rox walked off on the Dodgers...Zavislak and Wyse were the only 2 guys to pick CarGo...I originally had Wyse down as ineligble this week, but his timestamp on his email was ahead of the deadline...it just came late...probably because he is out on his honeymoon somewhere.."busy"...Congrats Wyse!

DUD OF THE DAY - Prince Fielder

Prince took the collar last night at 0/4...Off to a fairly slow start...he is on pace for only 20HRs and 81RBIs this year...you have got to believe that pace will pick up soon...Tigers also struggling as a team at 12-12, but only 1 GB of 1st...you got to believe they will go on a run here soon as well...2 guys took Prince this week...

Wednesday, May 2, 2012

5/1 Recap -

STUD OF THE DAY - Curtis The Grandy Man Granderson

He was 2/3 with a solo HR...and now has an AL leading 9 HRs on the year...6 guys picked Grandy this week...

DUD OF THE DAY - Gerald Dempsey "Buster" Posey III

Posey had a rough night going 0-4 with a K and a GDP...Posey is off to a good start this year...20 games in and he is still batting .333...2 guys picked Gerald this week...

Tuesday, May 1, 2012

Week 4 Preview - Miggy and the Rays

Onto week #4...

Only 22 different players picked this week, down from 30 something last week.  There were a few players picked alot...As usual, the previous week STUD was picked the most...Miggy Cabrera picked 9 times...the best player in MLB, Matt Kemp was picked 8 times...and Longoria and Granderson were each picked 6 times...It looks like it was a rough Monday for injuries....Longoria left his game early, and rumors are swirling about the health of Hamilton, Morneau, and Swisher as well...Those 4 players being hurt affect 12 RTTC owners...

There were no new picks this week to the RTTC board...

The BA leader, Adam Staley (.429) picked Jay Bruce this week...
The HR leader, Jon Davia (10) picked Miggy Cabrera...
The RBI leader, Adam Staley (26) picked Bruce....

15 teams were picked this week...The most being the Rays - 15 times...Yankees - 12 times, and Tigers - 7 times...All eyes are on the leader Jeremy Berg (19-3) who picked the NYY, who won last night...so he is the 1st to 20 wins....

Week 3 Recap - BiederSTUD

STUD OF THE WEEK - JOSH BIEDERSTEDT

Biederstud went with Miguel Cabrera and he was 7-22 this week with 3 HRs and 8 RBI, good for 18 pts...I am going to go out on a limb and say that will be the lowest SOTW total for the season, but Bieder don't care, he got his $60....There were a bunch of players that finished in the 16-17 point range for the week, so a lot of honorable mentions to go out...Bieder is off to arguably his best start in his 5 year career of RTTC, as he has hit over .300, and had at least 2HRs and 5RBIs each week so far...He only had 21 HRs last year, this year has 8 already...almost half way there JB...Congrats!

DUD OF THE WEEK - Ryan Jones

@czarjonesey7 aka Ryan Jones had a rough week going with Hanley Ramirez...HanRam had only 1 hit in 21 ABs...and with that hit he also added an RBI...good for 2 pts...Lucky for Marlins fans that one hit was a walk off at least...Its been a pretty slow start for RyJo, as he is only hitting .210 on the year, but at least he is in the middle of the pack in HRs and RBIs...Ryan has to shake off this Dud performance this week, as he has a big week ahead of him...graduating from Miami U this weekend....I am sure he will be deep in his cups Sat afternoon/evening when I arrive at his graduation party...He is looking for bounce back week..what better way than to have one last week in college...

TEAM STUD - RED SOX

The Sox went 6-1 this week, and have seemingly righted to the ship...Graven and Riether were the only ones to pick them...

TEAM DUD - Angels, Tigers

Both of these AL preseason favorites had an awful week, going 1-5...Parker, Shipley and Jess Kapcar were the unlucky ones that trusted in them this week...

Friday, April 27, 2012

4/26 Recap -

STUD OF THE DAY - Miggy Cabrera

No one really stood out yesterday, so I am going to pat my back...Just look at yesterdays Dud post..thats why...Miggy was actually only 1/4, HR, and 2 RBI...but the Tigers got swept by the M's..

DUD OF THE DAY - Eric Hosmer

He was 0/5 yesterday with a K and a GDP...but the Royals still beat the Tribe...Nothing like a trip to Cleveland to get a team back on track...The Angels have been terrible so far, but lucky for them they are in Cleveland this weekend, so that will get Pujols and the gang back on track...

TEAM PICK UPDATE - Berg (Orioles) is now 17-2..unreal..Sunderman you are 11 games back
