New for 2010

Okay the post just below this one goes into detail of all the original rules of RTTC, so look down there if you need a refresher.
Also before I forget, it would be smart to bookmark this site or become a follower as this is where all of the updates happen.
2010 CHANGES

1- ALL emails corresponding about RTTC in anyway need to be sent to rttcpicks@gmail.com No exceptions. This will be the only way to get your picks in this year, sorry. I have to limit the "non-work emails" this year from my blackberry, and there were some issues with my phone last year as I never got some picks for whatever reason.

2- Speaking of getting picks in, this year the deadline for your picks will be 12PM, every Monday morning. No exceptions. So if you know you will be gone for a week, or cant get to a computer/phone monday morning, you should know ahead of time and send picks in. For example, if you are a forgetful type of person, it may be a good idea to send a list of 26 players in before the season that says Week 1 - ARod, Week 2 - Poo-Holes, etc....just in case you forget, you will have a backup plan. You can always change your pick up until the 12pm Monday deadline.

3- WEEKLY WINNER... This by far is the greatest addition to this years RTTC. Every year around week 20 or so, some separation starts to take place, and some people that are way behind, lose focus and might not send picks, and that needed to change. So every week, the STUD of the WEEK will be the weekly winner and get paid out a certain % of the overall pot, that is yet to be determined, but will be determined based on the number of entrants. This addition will give all of us losers at the end of the year that can't win the season long awards, a chance at cashing in, in week 26.

4- STUD of the Week will be determined by a simple formula. Hits + HRs + RBIs = TOTAL. The player with the highest total each week will be the SOTW, and will cash. So, for example if your pick goes 10-23 with 4HR and 10RBI in a week, you get 24 pts, and that would probably win most weeks. If 2 people tie than they will split that weekly amount pot.

5- NO PICK SUBMITTED. If no pick is submitted by Monday at Noon, that that person cannot compete for the Stud of the week. This shouldn't happen if you send a "justincase" list. I will not be trying to hunt down people this year all day monday trying to get their picks in, so if you get no pick in by noon, you are out for the week.

6- $60 entry fee. I was hesitant to raise this but with the addition of the weekly winner, it needed to be done to make the prize worth while. I figure, with 40 entries, each weekly winner will be around $50 or so, but still this is based on how many entries we get in. Also note that this is a 100% payout league, meaning I do not take in any percent of the entry fees, how dumb am I?

I think that is it for now, so if you are gonna be in again this year send an email to rttcpicks@gmail.com and let me know. Also get recruiting so we can get over 50 participants this year.
OPENING DAY IS APRIL 4th, WEEK 1 picks due at noon that day. Also, note week 1 will run from April 4-11. Week 2 starts April 12.

2010 League Rules and Info

RTTC Rules:
Very simple fantasy baseball game...

You pick 1 player each week of the MLB season which equals 26 different picks.

Every new week starts on Monday (Week 1 starts April 4th)

You can not use the same player more than 1 time per season.

We only count/care about Batting Average, HRs, and RBIs (Stats will be taken from mlb.com)

These stats will be accumulated and we will have the year end winners.

At the end of the season there will be 9 season long winners, the top 3 in each category.

Doubleheaders DO count in the stats, these are a good chance to get extra ABs

Rain outs, injuries, days off are part of the game…so watch the weather channel, and keep an eye on strained hammy's

At end of year, Master Pot is split into the 3 smaller pots and the top 3 of each category get paid.

FAQ's

WHAT IF THERE IS A TIE? At the end of the season, any tie's on the top 3 of each category will be split. For example #1, #2 tie for HRs….they split 1st and 2nd $$.

WHAT IF A PLAYER IS PICKED BY MULTIPLE PEOPLE IN THE SAME WEEK? It does not matter if a player is played by 2 people in the same week, they just cant use him the rest of the year.

WHAT IF THE LEADER IN BATTING AVERAGE AT THE END OF THE SEASON DOES NOT PICK A PLAYER SO THIER BA DOES NOT GO DOWN? A player must be picked each week, and that player cannot be on the DL. Additionally, to qualify for the batting title, a player must have at least 515 at bats. This just prevents someone from picking bench players/pinch hitters at the end of the season just to keep their batting average up.

WHAT IF A CAN NOT GET MY PICK IN ON TIME? Not my problem, if you know you wont be around email a few picks ahead of time just in case you forgot.

CAN I USE AL AND NL PLAYERS? You can pick any Major League Player, you just can only use him once the entire year.

HOW DO I SUBMIT MY WEEKLY PICKS? EMail your picks to rttcpicks@gmail.com for your weekly picks. Also if you want to join the league, let me know at this address as well.

The New Decade is Here

2010 is finally here, and besides the fact that means I am getting old, also means we are coming up on Year 3 of your favorite "fantasyish" baseball game...RTTC.

Spring Training started today with the Mets and Braves, and all I know is that this Jason Heyward kid looks like a stud for Atlanta. I am taking him week 1(maybe)

Changes for year 3 RTTC.

-$60 entry fee

-weekly payouts

-submitting picks method.

I will get into each of these more later this week, with the reasoning behind the changes.

So make sure you keep up with this site, and try and recriut some more rookies.
