STUDS OF THE WEEK - Punches, AF Sunderman, Graven, Willie, Price, Brink, Curlis

These guys all went with Justin Upton this week and he responded by going 13/27 with 3 HRs and 7 RBIs...(23 pts) This is Price and Brink's 3rd SOTW, Punches, Graven, Willie's 2nd SOTW, and the 1st for Sunday and Curlis... Troy Boy got the shaft this week as Beltran didn't play due to an injury...so that is an obvious 0 pt week...Technically 0 pts is worse than 1 pt, but Mark Reynolds went 1-26 this week...so for that, Ty Meyer and Tim Guelde get the honorable mention Duds...

Week 1 Results..Just Getting Started

The opening weekend is in the books and we have some out to a fast start, and some that wish they could get a mulligan....BUT...it is a long long season, and things tend to average themselves out over the long run....So don't get TOOOO upset if you picked Longoria for the first week (which happens to be the longest week in RTTC history) , and he is now on the DL after putting up an 0-5 effort....(Ouch..the dreaded april oblique injury)...Lets take a look at the first update of the season...Remember Week 1 ends on April 10th, with Week 2 picks due the April 11th....

Greg Leonard out to a very nice start hitting .625..but that is only after 8 at bats....so chances are that will be down come next Monday...But he does have 10 "pts" already...(Rookies: When i refer to pts, that is how we come up with the Stud of the Week...Hits + HRs + RBIs = _ pts...On average last year.... a score of 18-20 pts would win the SOTW Pot)

Sunderman and Brooks both start the weekend off with 3 bombs each...lets see if they can beat the record of 6 in a week..if so there will be an *, especially if Sunderman breaks it....Only 41 more to break the season HR mark..

Brooks also leading the RBIs with 7....Brink is on his tail 6...Brooks is known to toss back a couple cold ones on Sunday nights and forget to make his picks on time monday morning...lets see if this hot start makes him more focused in 2011...

On the other end of the spectrum....

5 players still looking for their 1st hit....26 players looking for the 1st HR, and 19 looking for the 1st RBI....

I Got Screwed Award goes to: Both Badenhops....As rookies I am sure they just wanted to get a nice solid start with a very dependable player in Longoria....he gets 5 ABs then hurts his side...DL - 3 Weeks...rough start fellas....but look at the bright side...at least you won't go 1 or 2-20 which someone usually does per week...

What a huge week for a few...we had 1 weekly record broke and 1 tied....The best weekly performance of the year goes to...

STUD OF THE WEEK...ANDY BRINK

Andy went 12/22, with 5 HR and 13 RBIs...for a total of 30!(Bautista)...That sets the record for most points in a week...The big week now puts him into 2nd place in BA at 338, 13th in HRs at 19, and 4th in RBIs at 76...This is Andy's 2nd SOTW...congrats....(Emmons also picked Bautista but missed the deadline last week, so was not eligible for the SOTW) (google pic - Brink)

These guys both went 4/20, and that is it(Fielder)...This is also the 4th time for each that they are the DOTW...

TOUGH LUCK OF THE WEEK...TIM GUELDE

How about Tim's week...16 hits, 4 HRs, and 7 RBIs..total of 27....He would have won every week prior to this week, and ties the hit record at 16...tough luck Timmy G, great week though!

STUDS OF THE WEEK - Smith, Sunderman, Zgela, Brooks, TKrauss, Mathews, CJones

Huge week for these guys as they put up a record tying performance. They all went 16/27, 1 HR and 6 RBIs (Hamilton). Those 16 hits tie the most in a week of RTTC...Last who did it was Punches in Week 5 of 2009....It is the 2nd SOTW for Smith, Sunderman, Zgela, and CJones....1st of the year for Brooks, TKrauss, and Mathews...They all jumped in BA about 35-40 points each...(google pic - 7 guys)

Ty My with only 3 points this week (Carter) marks the 2nd straight week he is the dud...and 3rd DUD week since week 3....Last 2 weeks he has 4 hits and has dropped a total of 27 pts down to .232...still only 5 HR behind the leader though...

DUDS OF THE WEEK: Leonard, Brooks, Doug Krauss, Prigge, Emmons...all 5 of these guys totalled only 3 hits for the week with 0HRs and RBIs for a total of (3)...Unfortunately for Doug Krauss he has been a DUD for the 2nd straight week and is the only one without a RBI on the year, but on the bright side, he did raise his average 23 points all the way up to .158...

STAT OF THE WEEK: Last year Dan Rychener finished his rookie year with 22HRs....this year thru 2 weeks he already has 9HR! He is on pace to hit 117...

.118, 0HR, 0RBI...last years, co-HR champ Jodi B is 7 back from the leaders in HRs...so time is running out on her to defend her half of the crown...Cowan pretty much ranks out as average in all 3 categories....he would need a miracle last month to place in the top 3...

BA RACE...Bindel has finally overtaken Hernandez by 1 pt at .334-.333...Hernandez led BA since week 4

HR RACE...Brooks and Whittlesey are all tied at 38...could we have a split HR champ again this year?

WEEK 18 RESULTS

This is a week that could be the turning point of the 2009 season. We had 4 players come up with a 7 day output that may never be duplicated for a long time...Our BA leader went 1-18 and lost 13 points on his lead...what a week it was...that brings us to.....

STUDS OF THE WEEK: ZGELA, BROOKS, WHITTLESEY, HERLIHY

.448, 6HR, 10RBI...Arguably the best week in RTTC history...what makes it even bigger the top 2 HR leaders before the week started pulled this off. Brooks and JWhitt now have a commanding lead on the rest of the HR field...Herlihy is now 3rd in HR and 2nd in RBIs....Zgela just gave himself new life as he just 2HR shy of 3rd place...the 6HRs in the week is a new RTTC record....Brooks now stands at 5th place on the single season HR Record....with 8 weeks to go...4 more HRs and he is the new champ, unless JWhitt passes him....this could be a McGwire-Sosa-ish HR finish. 0-6, 0HR 0RBI...The injury bug strikes again...this is the 2nd time for Zgela this year...also he is in danger of not qualifying for the BA Title...A minimum of 503 ABs is needed per RTTC Rules...3.1 ABs per game X 162 games) Despite the bad luck, ZMan and Bindel both are sitting pretty good overall, just need to avoid the injury bug.

What a crazy week 5 we had. The weekly hit record was broken, the at bats record was tied, and the RBI record was broken by 3 different people. Also, 2 players got suspended, and a few more had the dreaded Monday night injury...

STUD OF THE WEEK: Troy Brooks

Honorable Mention: I normally don't do this but had to give props to the other record breakers this week. Punches went off with 16 hits raising his average 70 points...and Jodi Bieder and Jay Persinger also ended the week with 14 RBIs, which actually doubled both of their totals for the year.

CHEATERS OF THE WEEK: Ryan Smith, and Clark Carroll

Both of these guys were suspended on Thursday for performance enhancing drugs, although by looking at them you wouldn't know...Per RTTC rules they were only required to sit out the remainder of the week and are reinstated as of today.

MAYBE GRADY CAN PITCH TOO?

Grady Sizemore was the player of the day yesterday going 2-5 with 2 Homers and 4 RBIs. Unfortunately, the Tribe forgot to send any pitchers to Arlington this week as the got swept by the Rangers. Let's hope they show up in Cleveland today. Good pick by T-roy Brooks and by rookie Ryan Jones.
