Week 21 Preview - Sweet Lou Edition

32 Different players picked this week...Which I believe is an all-time RTTC high

Most picked player of the week is Aramis Ramirez, the Week 20 Stud...picked 4 times

New pick to the RTTC Board is a doozy...

K Roach picked:

Louis Glenn Marson , Catcher, Indians

Position: Catcher
Bats: Right, Throws: Right
Height: 6' 1", Weight: 200 lb.

Born: June 26, 1986 in Scottsdale, AZ (Age 25)
High School: Coronado (Scottsdale, AZ)
Drafted by the Philadelphia Phillies in the 4th round of the 2004 amateur draft. Sent to Cleveland in the Cliff Lee trade..
------------------------------------------------------------------------

Coming in to the week Lou was hitting .214 with 1 HR and 10 RBIs...so of course in his RTTC debut last night, he goes 3-3 with an RBI....Roach deserves the Stud of the Week already...

Week 20 Results - Timmy G Salvages Season

Stud of the Week - Tim Guelde

It has been a pretty brutal year overall for Tim G....but this week he salvaged his season with a solo SOTW performance, its his 1st of the season...Unless he can go on a HR binge, its not looking likely he will finish in the top 3 ... He is currently 11 HRs behind 3rd place right now...Congrats Tim on your $50...(Google Pic - Timmy G)

DUDS of the Week - Stout, Todd G., Finkes, T Krauss, Curlis, Holbrook, D Rychener, Roach

The early week injury struck again taking out 8 guys this week...6 of the guys picked Big Papi, who has a bad foot (don't think on the DL) and one guy picked J Kipnis, he was placed on the DL on Monday night..The other, Roach, didn't even get a pick in so he went 0-21, really hurting his BA chances...A few of those guys are in the hunt in the season ending awards, so this week was a bad blow to them.

8/16 Recap - Graven Tops a Hundo

Busy night in RTTC Land, as a bunch of picked players hit dongs...8 by my count...

Studs of the Day - The 5 Cano Owners...
Robby went 2/5 last night with a HR and 4 RBIs...Graven is one of those owners and thus has topped 100 RBIs for the year...He is looking to soon blow past his career high of 111 RBIs from 2008...The RTTC record of 136 could be in jeopardy at this pace...Mathews also picked Cano and is still keeping strong with his average...

OTHER RTTC Picks that HR'd
Punches hit league leading #34 (Bautista's 35th...he had 3 BBs though, so might not get much to hit)
Pujols - ho hum #30
Tulo hit #25
Aramis Ramirez -#22
Ellsbury - (he has 22 HRs?!?!)
Melky Cabrera - #16
Hamilton - #15...something tells me he could end up with 30 this year yet
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
This will be the last update of the week as I am heading down to Jacksonville to watch some AA baseball between the Suns and the BayBears the rest of the weekend, and who knows, I may even watch the Jacksonville Sharks Arena Bowl Championship parade...how fun would that be?!

Week 19 Recap - Lucky #7

STUDS OF THE WEEK - Punches, AF Sunderman, Graven, Willie, Price, Brink, Curlis

These guys all went with Justin Upton this week and he responded by going 13/27 with 3 HRs and 7 RBIs...(23 pts) This is Price and Brink's 3rd SOTW, Punches, Graven, Willie's 2nd SOTW, and the 1st for Sunday and Curlis... Punches is now tied for 1st in HRs with 33, and Graven now leads RBIs with 98...will he be the 1st to 100 this year?? Congrats you guys split the $50, $7.14 each...big bucks (Google Pic - Lucky 7)

DUDS OF THE WEEK - Brooks

Troy Boy got the shaft this week as Beltran didn't play due to an injury...so that is an obvious 0 pt week...Technically 0 pts is worse than 1 pt, but Mark Reynolds went 1-26 this week...so for that, Ty Meyer and Tim Guelde get the honorable mention Duds...

MLB - A Gonzalez - .352

HR
RTTC - Punches, Cowan - 33

8/10 Recap - Week 18 Scoring Change

I ran across an article that explains what happened last week in an at bat with Big Papi, read about here ->
http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/redsox/extras/extra_bases/2011/08/david_ortiz_get.html

Anyways, long story short, the Red Sox appealed a play to MLB where Papi should have been credited with an RBI, and they overturned the initial scoring, so in week 18 Papi now is credited with 4 RBIs, instead of 3. Riether and Salvatore were given credit for the extra RBI...
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Back to this week -

8/10 STUD of the Day
Matt Kemp was 4/5 with an RBI...

Others: Tulo, Cano, Votto, and Pence were the picks that hit bombs last night...
