Spring Training Leaders

Does spring training success mean anything? Probably not, but...anyways, here are the triple crown leaders as of this morning thru about 2-3 weeks of exhibitions...

AVG. - Michael Cuddyer - .500 (18-36)

HR - Sean Rodriguez - 6

RBI - Delwyn Young - 18

Like I said, this probably won't equate to reg. season success, but if these guys have a break out year, you can't see you didn't see it coming. Also, the Tribe are 13-6 and atop the AL in the standings...so, yeah, spring training means nothing...nevermind

3/24 Top Players

Yesterday, 3 guys hit 2HRs each...Torii Hunter, Brian McCann, and Brian Bowker....So far we have 27 RTTCers confirmed for this year, but still havent heard from about 15...so hoping to get up to 40 again...11 days to first pitch.

Ryan "2-Times" Howard

It seems someone around the league will hit 2 HRs in a game everyday....the tough part is trying to predict which guy that may be...Yesterday, in spring action, it was a RTTC favorite pick, Ryan Howard...he knocked out his 2nd and 3rd of the spring as the Phillies walked-off.

3-22 Spring Update

Its about that time to start thinking of who to pick for Week 1. Yesterday's top performances went to a pair of Washington Nationals, who both will probably get picked at some point this year. Ryan Zimmerman hit his 4th and 5th HRs of the Spring while Josh Willingham hit his 3rd and 4th bombs...

13 Days from Opening Day

Wow, what a weekend we had with March Madness..from Cornell to St. Mary's, from Ali to Omar, from Ohio to Northern Iowa...we saw it all this weekend, with it culminating yesterday with a 6'6" Center bringing it up the court down 2, passing to the point guard with 2 seconds all the while, the coach almost called a timeout...my favorite moment of the weekend... Spartan Walk-Off. That's why this time of year is so great..

While all of this madness is going down, the baseball guys are getting tuned up in spring training, getting ready for opening days in 2 weeks. And that means we are getting ready for year 3 of RTTC...see previous posts on changes for this year's format.

I will start doing some daily posts to get in shape for the start of the season.

13 days from Sox-Yankees...

Less Than a Month Away

Officially less than a month before the start of the 2010 RTTC Season when the Yanks travel to Fenway to take on the Sahx on April 4th.

Things you need to do before then, because this month for me goes by faster than any other:

Get ready for March Madness...Go OSU Bucks, Archbold Blue Streaks, Findlay Trojans...

Keep recruiting more RTTC players...The more people in we get, the more payouts we can have at the end of the year...

Start thinking about that week 1 pick...Who will be the 1st to cash in this year.

Start compiling a list of players to have as your backup, so that you dont miss the Noon deadline.

Thats it for now. Oh yeah, go rent "Up" if you haven't seen it yet.

You can follow us on Twitter @TheRTTC as well...remember the new email address for this season. rttcpicks@gmail.com use that for anything and everything RTTC.

New for 2010

Okay the post just below this one goes into detail of all the original rules of RTTC, so look down there if you need a refresher.
Also before I forget, it would be smart to bookmark this site or become a follower as this is where all of the updates happen.
2010 CHANGES

1- ALL emails corresponding about RTTC in anyway need to be sent to rttcpicks@gmail.com No exceptions. This will be the only way to get your picks in this year, sorry. I have to limit the "non-work emails" this year from my blackberry, and there were some issues with my phone last year as I never got some picks for whatever reason.

2- Speaking of getting picks in, this year the deadline for your picks will be 12PM, every Monday morning. No exceptions. So if you know you will be gone for a week, or cant get to a computer/phone monday morning, you should know ahead of time and send picks in. For example, if you are a forgetful type of person, it may be a good idea to send a list of 26 players in before the season that says Week 1 - ARod, Week 2 - Poo-Holes, etc....just in case you forget, you will have a backup plan. You can always change your pick up until the 12pm Monday deadline.

3- WEEKLY WINNER... This by far is the greatest addition to this years RTTC. Every year around week 20 or so, some separation starts to take place, and some people that are way behind, lose focus and might not send picks, and that needed to change. So every week, the STUD of the WEEK will be the weekly winner and get paid out a certain % of the overall pot, that is yet to be determined, but will be determined based on the number of entrants. This addition will give all of us losers at the end of the year that can't win the season long awards, a chance at cashing in, in week 26.

4- STUD of the Week will be determined by a simple formula. Hits + HRs + RBIs = TOTAL. The player with the highest total each week will be the SOTW, and will cash. So, for example if your pick goes 10-23 with 4HR and 10RBI in a week, you get 24 pts, and that would probably win most weeks. If 2 people tie than they will split that weekly amount pot.

5- NO PICK SUBMITTED. If no pick is submitted by Monday at Noon, that that person cannot compete for the Stud of the week. This shouldn't happen if you send a "justincase" list. I will not be trying to hunt down people this year all day monday trying to get their picks in, so if you get no pick in by noon, you are out for the week.

6- $60 entry fee. I was hesitant to raise this but with the addition of the weekly winner, it needed to be done to make the prize worth while. I figure, with 40 entries, each weekly winner will be around $50 or so, but still this is based on how many entries we get in. Also note that this is a 100% payout league, meaning I do not take in any percent of the entry fees, how dumb am I?

I think that is it for now, so if you are gonna be in again this year send an email to rttcpicks@gmail.com and let me know. Also get recruiting so we can get over 50 participants this year.
OPENING DAY IS APRIL 4th, WEEK 1 picks due at noon that day. Also, note week 1 will run from April 4-11. Week 2 starts April 12.
