Week 1 Results..Just Getting Started

The opening weekend is in the books and we have some out to a fast start, and some that wish they could get a mulligan....BUT...it is a long long season, and things tend to average themselves out over the long run....So don't get TOOOO upset if you picked Longoria for the first week (which happens to be the longest week in RTTC history) , and he is now on the DL after putting up an 0-5 effort....(Ouch..the dreaded april oblique injury)...Lets take a look at the first update of the season...Remember Week 1 ends on April 10th, with Week 2 picks due the April 11th....

Greg Leonard out to a very nice start hitting .625..but that is only after 8 at bats....so chances are that will be down come next Monday...But he does have 10 "pts" already...(Rookies: When i refer to pts, that is how we come up with the Stud of the Week...Hits + HRs + RBIs = _ pts...On average last year.... a score of 18-20 pts would win the SOTW Pot)

Sunderman and Brooks both start the weekend off with 3 bombs each...lets see if they can beat the record of 6 in a week..if so there will be an *, especially if Sunderman breaks it....Only 41 more to break the season HR mark..

Brooks also leading the RBIs with 7....Brink is on his tail 6...Brooks is known to toss back a couple cold ones on Sunday nights and forget to make his picks on time monday morning...lets see if this hot start makes him more focused in 2011...

On the other end of the spectrum....

5 players still looking for their 1st hit....26 players looking for the 1st HR, and 19 looking for the 1st RBI....

I Got Screwed Award goes to: Both Badenhops....As rookies I am sure they just wanted to get a nice solid start with a very dependable player in Longoria....he gets 5 ABs then hurts his side...DL - 3 Weeks...rough start fellas....but look at the bright side...at least you won't go 1 or 2-20 which someone usually does per week...

Good Luck for the remainder of the 1st week of 2011....

April Fools Day

Stud of the Day - JP Arencibia, TOR 3/4 , 2 HRs, 5 RBIs...was not picked in week 1

DUD of the Day - Kevin Kouzmanoff, 0-3, K, 2 Errors....was not picked this week either

Top Play of the Day - Neil Walker with a grand tater...

Neil Walker went 2-for-4 with a grand slam in a 6-3 win over the Cubs on Friday.
The fifth-inning blast brought the Pirates back from an early two-run deficit. Walker is just the second player in Pirates history to hit a grand slam on Opening Day and the first since Roberto Clemente in 1962. Walker was overlooked in many fantasy leagues, despite batting .296 with 12 homers last season. We think he'll end up being a nice value pick -rotoworld

Stud of the Day - Troy Brooks

Duds of the Day - Pujols Owners - Myself included

0-5 , 3 Double Plays.....8 outs....wow...read an article saying it was his worst game of his career...go figure....on pace for a 0-40 first week

24 Hours til 2011 Starts

Well, spring training is all but done for most teams..a few teams will still play an exhibition today before the start of the season tomorrow...The Tribe is in town today to face off with the Clippers, which pretty much resembles a Clippers intrasquad game..hard to tell which side is the "major leaguers"...oh and its snowing too...sweet

Lets take a look at a snapshot of this years Spring Training results...

Leaders

Hits - E. Almonte, MIL - 32...hit .417...looks like he made the team after being a non-roster invitee

HRs - J. Fox, BAL - 10...wow in 74 ABs too....back up catcher for the O's

RBIs - A. Gordon, KC - 23...

Of those 3, I can only see Gordon picked this year at some point...but who knows..its a long year...lets see if they can keep it up..

Best Spring Record

AL- KC 20-10...makes sense...tons of talent in Minors playing late innings

NL- SF 22-12...makes sense...won it all last year, great pitching

Worst Record

AL - CWS - 11-20....should be an average team this year...+ they added the big donkey

NL - HOU - 11-23...bad

RTTC Predictions

Avg Leader - O/U - .335

HR Leader - O/U - 42.5

RBI Leader - O/U - 135

Thats all for now....ready for the action to start

REMEMBER - If you miss a pick deadline - you will be ineligible for that weeks STUD OF THE WEEK POT, but can still submit a pick late....each day late will equal on 0-3.

Get fee paid by May 1st...if you are late on that, you will be ineligible for the STUD OF THE WEEK POT as well...

Three Days Away

We are almost there...

Tigers and Yankees and Braves and Nationals start the season this Thursday at 1:05pm...

Week 1 Picks must be in by 12:30pm...If you miss the 12:30 deadline, you can still submit a pick, you just wont be eligile for the weekly $50 prize....week 1 goes from march 31st to April 10th...

If you are still trying to get friends and family in the RTTC have them send me a pick by Thursday...so far we have about 10 rookies this year and should have around 50 RTTCers...

Try and put together a list of players maybe 5-10 long in case you are worried you may miss a deadline, so you aren't penalized...

8 Days to Opening Day

Almost there....8 days away

Lets check in to see who is playing well so far this spring..

Leader in Hits - Erick Almonte - 24 ... he is wearing #74, so doubtful he is an impact player this year for the Brew Crew

Leader in HRs - Jake Fox - 8 ... Catcher for Baltimore...can't see him playing much since they have Weiters

Leader in RBIs - Chris Davis - 15 ...Playing 3B for the Rangers...also behind Beltre...prob not much playing time there either

So, what do these leaders mean...probably nothing, chances are none of these players will ever be picked...

Get your week 1 picks in by Thursday March 31st by Noon...Go Bucks
